Bar Gettin' on up... Is it me, or are there a lot more lights to see this time of year?

Equinox bar

O
n any given night of the week, you'll likely find the staff of Think lounging with the ladies and sipping Lichee Martinis and Long Island Ice teas at the New Asia Bar, getting high atop the highest hotel in Southeast Asia.

For those of you who don't know, Equinox is a luxurious and intimate two storey lounge with a club-like atmosphere, sitting decadently atop the Swissôtel Stamford, and in my opinion, is one of the greatest watering holes of the world.

The view of the Singapore skyline from the 72nd floor gives even those with a fear of heights and an inferiority complex a feeling of invincibility, and there is no better place to contemplate your unstoppable future while leisurely sipping a Martini and staring down on the riff raff below.

Equinox takes its name from the time when day and night are of perfectly equal length. It's an unusual phenomenon, occurring only twice a year. But at Equinox, this "perfect harmony" is a daily happening!

And even better than the shimmering horizons beyond is the interior, a place where the lights and materials sparkle and glow, expressing a unique mood through the stylish lighting fixtures of Cline Bettridge Bernstein, in perfect complement to the rich colours and a liberal use of natural woods, stone finishes and luxurious accents.

Vibrant colours and unconventional furnishings - including floors that slant 20 degrees to spectacular views - creates a highly-charged atmosphere even on quite week nights, in a perfect balance between luxury and practicality.

On weekends, the crowds pour in and the buzz really gets going, fulled by the infectious beats of DJ Martin, who keeps ya going 'til dawn.

The sensation you get sitting on the top floors (the 71st and 72nd) of the Swissôtel Raffles City in New Asia Bar is partly vertigo and partly adrenaline rush - you feel like Donald Trump surveying New York City from his top-floor penthouse.

Wild imagination aside, the view is fantastic and so is the bar - two floors worth of luscious furnishings indulge the senses, and with DJ funking it at the bar's New Year Party, there's no better place to be on top of the world.

- Entrance is via the Beach Road entrance of Raffles City, through Intro Bar located on Level 1. Cover charge is $25 and includes first drink. Top Floors (71 & 72), Swissotel Raffles City, Equinox Complex, Singapore
