This legendary watering hole bears little resemblance to its likewise titled predecessor, formerly located in the Obecni Dum.

the thirsty dog prague

T
he old place was a stand up and wait for your beer joint with debauchery in every corner. The new 'dog' is a great place to hang out and rap in, with low beer prices, cool music (lot's of Tom Waits), and a friendly staff.

Yellow walls adorned with mad scribblings somehow coalesce into the perfect expression of a satisfied, slightly alienated mood.

If alienated it be, it's a friendly, easy distance, with a lovely lack of hard stares and rolling eyes. The tunes are good, the furniture from a different mold, and the service so good it's close to telepathic, if not overly friendly.

Date friendly and sometimes they have a groovy live act. Show up on a good night and you may get shown some tasteless underwear. The outdoor patio, open before the neighbors go to sleep is a good place to beat the heat, and they have a satellite hookup, so you can catch a game in the afternoon as well.

Reason to go: to stare at the walls and remember that you're sane.
