James Joyce was probably the most well-known and sought out Irish bar in Prague.

midst the Irish invasion, the Joyce is probably the most well-known and sought out. Apart from the pull of Guinness, Kilkenny, Caffrey's, and whiskey selections, other attractions include a good conversational party atmosphere and the high likelihood that you'll meet someone you know there (although that could be a minus point).

Consuming doesn't come cheap here; an Irish brew costs an Irish price, while their burgers, great as they are (in my opinion the best in Prague), come with an appropriate price tag.

Being the oldest Irish Pub in Prague, dating back to 1991, this place has achieved a very authentic feel, augmented by lines from Joyce's works recently painted on the walls and ceilings by Stewart K. Moore, and by one of the cutest and most charming waitresses in the city.

She didn't roll her eyes once. The menu has pub favorites mixed with some more exotic choices, a good selection of Czech and Irish beers, and a well-equipped bar to handle the whiskey appetite of the indigenous inhabitants. The afternoon was quiet and relaxed, but the nights promise more action and an unruly if harmless crowd. Live Irish music (played by Czechs) on Thursday nights.

In addition to the pull of Guinness, Kilkenny, Caffrey's, and are equipped to handle the whiskey appetite of the indigenous inhabitants. You'll also find a good conversational party atmosphere and the high likelihood that you'll meet someone you know there. The burgers are great (in my opinion the best in Prague), but they also have traditional Irish cooking for those who are homesick for mom's cooking.

Reason to go: a real Irish atmosphere.
