This off-center, Czech frequented establishment actually does a great job of emulating the environment, with a thick oaky feel, exposed mortar walls, and red and green clover decorations, at least until you venture down the stairs.

O'Briens Irish Bar

S
omehow, it all changes from authentic Irish to Cap'n Pegleg's seafood shack. The surreal kitsch goes right down to hanging sea nets and mini life-preservers, so far that you expect to see Gilligan drunk in the corner, complaining to himself about how he never gets any respect from the skipper.

The crowd was quiet, apparently undisturbed by the total lack of continuity downstairs, so I followed suit, drank and tried to forget.

Reason to go: good atmosphere at cheap prices.
