If you're ever in Clarke Quay, pop into Attica, one of the hippest clubs to hit Singapore, why not stop by and see why?

Attica Singapore

I
f you are a very, very good bar patron - always remembering to tip well, not spill your drink and never sip through the cocktail straw - maybe when you die you&ll get to spend the great hereafter in a bar like Attica, the hottest place in Clarke Quay.

Attica is run by the guy who brought us the Soundbar, and if places like this are emerging as the new standard for Singapore's bar scene, there's reason to sing joyously from the rooftops.

This bar/lounge/disco rolled into one is done up in ultra hip, New York style - with its fine background music, funky coloured lighting and clean-cut interior; the service is also highly attentive.

It's located right on the Singapore river, near the bridge to Brewerkz's side, on a passage alongside the Quay, and the designers have used this to their advantage, positioning some of the seating in the spacious entry space with an eye on the windows, enabling patrons to people-watch in comfort and anonymity.

Attica has delightfully also not forgotten about the small matter of ambiance: it's lovely! The atmosphere is laid back and relaxed and the music is soothing, with a nice groove once the deejay gets warmed up.

After you wend your way through the front bar's forest of Central European and local models and the banker boys who love them, the spacious open back area provides a much-needed breath of fresh air, especially if you can make your way to the booth in the back and enjoy your champagne self in style.

The trend of al fresco joints is catching on, and Attica, located next to the Singapore River on Clarke Quay, is in its element.

On weekends, party-goers decked out in glamour-wear actually queue to get inside here, where the interiors smack of Manhattan chic, certainly the perfect avenue for some to play out certain Sex and the City fantasies. With funk, Latino and jazz creating a subtly sensual environment, Attica blends class and sexiness for the perfect holiday party, meaning high quality House in a high-class setting.

Usually filled to the brim on a regular weekend, we can foresee the place to be a complete madhouse come New Year's Eve, and we doubt we're exaggerating.

Split into 2 parts (Attica and Attica Too, which is members-only, too bad), move towards the area where your music taste lies.

Attica will have you spoilt for choice as they serve up an entire platter of bangin' sounds, from classic retro, old skool hip hop to top 40's - an intoxicating cocktail if there ever was one, on top of the shots that you're already having, tsk.

The Partyman and DJ Titus will accompany you throughout, as you burst out the bubbly and show off your slick moves on the dance floor. After which, trip upstairs (and that's after you flash your exclusive membership card, you privileged bugger) and immerse yourself with deejays like Les Schmitz from pioneer Ibiza club Amnesia, or stellar DJs like Paul van Dyk and Danny Tenaglia, notorious for parties like "Cocoon Club" and 'Cream'.

Non-members, this is where you start wishing desperately that you are one of the elite few as you see the hipsters strutting up the stairs preparing to drown themselves in the sounds of paradise - good on you if you are part of the fellowship, maestro. However, with a place like Attica, you'll get to go crazy either way, anyway. It's the life, baby!
